Today I thought I would share with you a mixed media process video for one of my faith-based paintings on paper.
This piece is called “Planted in Living Water” and it’s part of my Artsy Faith collection of artwork.
It’s based on Psalm 1:3 and it’s intended to be an encouragement and a reminder that the Lord will richly bless those that delight in Him and delight in following His ways.

Do you trust your intuition?
As an artist, yet one who is completely and utterly Classic Type A, every time I sit down to create, I often feel that there is a battle constantly being waged.
A battle between my heart and my mind.
Between that part of me that seeks to create simply for the joy of creating and the joy of connecting at a deeper level with myself and with the Lord through my art……
and the part of me that questions every step, and every process…..
and….wants to control every outcome……

In my last blog post I shared with you a poem and an art journal page that explored how we see ourselves and what we choose to believe about ourselves.
Today, I wanted to share with you a process video that shows you how I created my art journal page.

What do you see when you look at me?
A woman of confidence and purpose, who knows what she wants and goes after it?
A woman who is focused and driven?
A woman of faith, who seeks to walk hand in hand with God?
A woman with a beautiful family and blessed life?
What do I see when I look at me?
Skin that is no longer as smooth as it once was.
Hair that is slowly greying.
A body that struggles with things that were once effortless.
Opportunities lost.
Chances that weren’t taken.
Mistakes that were made.
A thousand regrets.
A woman that has stopped taking risks…..
….and has forgotten how to dream.
What does God see when he looks at me?
A woman who is fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
A daughter of the King. (Galatians 3:26)
A woman who has been called by God and is destined to make a difference. (John 15:16, Ephesians 2:10, Matthew 5:14)
A woman of purpose. (Psalm 138:8, Romans 8:28, Proverbs 20:5)
A woman who is strong and can overcome whatever life throws her way. (Romans 8:37)
A woman who is loved….no matter what. (Romans 8:31-29)
And what is the reality?
It’s whatever I CHOOSE to believe.

P.S. The artwork is from an art journal page I created specifically to accompany this poem. I filmed my process and will be sharing the video tutorial with you soon 🙂

Have you ever looked at a piece of art and wondered how it was made? Well today I am going to give you a look into my process.
In my last blog post I shared with you an art journal page and original poem I created called “A Light in the Darkness.” It was about listening to your heart, embracing your purpose and following your passion.
I loved that art journal page so much that I decided that I wanted to turn it into a piece of original art. So I re-created it on an 8″ x 8″ wood panel – the panel being the original size of my art journal page.
I decided it would be fun to film the process for you and give you a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at how I create some of my art.

“You are SO focused”
For as long as I can remember, this is something I have heard over and over again from family, friends and even acquaintances.
I always took it as a compliment.
A source of pride in fact.
Until recently that is….

Hey there sweet friends! Today I have a Bible Journaling video tutorial to share with you. It’s my first Bible Journaling page in my brand new ESV Single Column Journaling Bible by Crossway.
The page in my Bible that I used is the very first page you see when you open up your Bible – the one that says “This bible belongs to.”
I decided that I wanted to personalize my page by incorporating some of my favourite colors, patterns, textures, and embellishments – all those artsy things that just make me happy when I play with them and then look at my creation afterwards.
I see this page as a special page because essentially although it is about me in a sense – it’s a page that I have dedicated to the Lord to let Him know that I am here, ready and waiting to hear his voice.
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” ~ Isaiah 6:8
