"What Do You See" Art Journal Page Process Video | Andrea Walford

In my last blog post I shared with you a poem and an art journal page that explored how we see ourselves and what we choose to believe about ourselves.

Today, I wanted to share with you a process video that shows you how I created my art journal page.

As you will see in the video, I already had some “elements” on my page – from cleaning off my stencil and my stamp from my “Light in the Darkness” mixed media panel. I loved the look of the elements so much that I decided that I wanted to try and preserve some of those elements if I could.

Also, because my page was facing my “Light in the Darkness” page, and because I loved the look of the black and white with a pop of color, I decided that I wanted to carry that “black and white with a pop of color” tone to this page.

Although I’m not usually one to pat myself on the back, I really do love how this page turned out too.

So, I’ve decided that I’m going to pull both pages (“What Do You See” and “A Light in the Darkness”) out of my art journal and I’m going to frame them.

Now I approached the video in the same way that I did with my mixed media panel.   I talk to you a bit at the beginning about my thoughts going into this page, and then when I dive into the actual creating I speed up the camera so that you can watch everything I do, without having to watch a super long video.

You can watch the video tutorial below (please refresh the page if you don’t see the video player right away):

If you have any questions about any of the products I used, or the techniques, please leave me a question in the comments section of this post, and then either check back, or subscribe to the comments so you know when I’ve replied.

I hope you enjoy the video!

P.S.  I am working on a new free Art Journaling Jumpstart class that walks you through the basics of what you need to know to get started with art journaling/mixed media.  If you want to be notified when the class is released, please be sure to sign up for my artsy e-newsletter.

Note that this is an all NEW e-newsletter that is taking the place of all my other e-newsletter lists as the direction of my blog and business has changed.  So, if you are currently a newsletter subscriber and wish to continue hearing from me then please take a minute to re-subcribe and join my new list by filling out the form below.
